<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G4x0Udp9LRU/UmHU_prGRbI/AAAAAAAABqw/Da_WXLTrn5Y/s1600/photo.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G4x0Udp9LRU/UmHU_prGRbI/AAAAAAAABqw/Da_WXLTrn5Y/s400/photo.PNG" width="266" /></a></div>
I thought I would talk briefly about my first autograph! I'm not bragging but I still find it hard to believe I actually have an autograph of one of the most awesome bands in the world! I never thought it would happen to me! Especially at a probability of a competition like this! I got to tell you, I'm not a huge fan on pre-ordering items online, it's just feel odd for me but when there was mention of postcards....My goodness they know how the reel their fans in on a fish on a hook! I pre-ordered the CD immediately! Those days were treacherous because I thought my package wasn't going to come in! Plus I was already excited on hearing <i>Electric </i>but I did hear most of the songs via BBC specials and from the videos and what not. I was actually going to buy the CD at Amoeba but I felt I should wait another week and my God, it came in! When I was opening the pack I saw the postcards and the CD! I flipped through them and at first, I didn't see nothing but when I flip the x2 one that's where the autograph was!! I was like OMG!!! I really couldn't believe what I was staring at!! I'm 21 and only been a fan for a few years and obtain something that I never thought would be in my possession! I knew others gotten personalized ones and that's grand too but the fact, I won it at those competitions they have and I never win those! I just felt like something is up or a little connection! I'm totally grateful about it and just still shock every time I see it! I took this photo from my iphone via Instragram! I was one of those 500 lucky fans! And some of my fan friends won them too which made me even happier because they deserve it! Sometimes I really do wonder if the Boys can see what fans be doing!?!<div>
Also forgot to mention about the concert, I really enjoyed seeing the Boys' reaction when the fans were excited to see them! I can tell they might have to do another concert tour next year! Even on the radio the love the fact the fans are giving them such high reactions! They deserve it though, they are probably the last few artists I can say that stayed mostly true to themselves!<br /><br /></div>

Greetings everybody! I know this have been long overdue for a blog post! Well as promised, I was going to slowly but surely start blogging again. SInce I am in college, I can also help myself how to write by blogging. I had a stressful week prior to the concert, but after seeing the Electric concert, I feel better than I was last week! I hate to say but I am rather jealous of other fans seeing it more than once, it was a very spectacular concert!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sQLt1S1d_YM/UmHFeReBCLI/AAAAAAAABqE/VwdvqIT7hO4/s1600/1375873_10151700388923008_111921460_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sQLt1S1d_YM/UmHFeReBCLI/AAAAAAAABqE/VwdvqIT7hO4/s320/1375873_10151700388923008_111921460_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My mother and I took the train to get to the Shrine Auditorium and we came actually rather early, but it was good because the lines were filling up so quickly! While waiting, we met some really sweet cool fans! One happened to be African American like me and my mother! We started chatting it up about PSB info like regular fans and then another couple of fans chimed in the conversation. My mother told me that were very stunned that I knew a lot than they did, which is ironic because they are longer fans that I will ever be, yet I knew a lot of information and they probably also expect my mother to know more because they are in her era and not mine. They were also homosexual but I don't judge, they were sweet and respectful and that's fine by me! Discrimination isn't my interest so I'm open to anyone as long they respect me as a person too. Anyway, as we got in, we had to wait more time because there was a DJ by the name of Jason Bentley that was going to DJ for a few hours before the concert began. I was kind of nervous about a DJ being an opening act because I was quite nervous that the music wasn't going to flow or anything. I went to a fashion model show and this DJ was horrible and I had that upbringing ever since! But this DJ was really, really good! I mean he was so excellent it was like I was in a nightclub or a rave! A lot of the songs were familiar to me because the Boys had a BBC Special and they had their favorite songs that they hear around the country and would play them for other fans to know about what they listen too. I was so impressed by the artists they chose too! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5evIGFFlh9I/UmHILN3FjPI/AAAAAAAABqQ/j1fYfmbJpNE/s1600/1383863_10151701800943008_1560362101_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5evIGFFlh9I/UmHILN3FjPI/AAAAAAAABqQ/j1fYfmbJpNE/s320/1383863_10151701800943008_1560362101_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are some of the songs the DJ mixed before the show! I totally recommend them some are mainstream and some are indie artists! But they have some gemstones in this treasure box of songs! I was looking for a particular song called Inspector Norse by Todd Terje, because that song is so addicting! I literally can't stop playing it! It had this disco feel to it that I love a lot about it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Whka8mhN2bA/UmHIu0jD84I/AAAAAAAABqY/chsXLYFLUYo/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Whka8mhN2bA/UmHIu0jD84I/AAAAAAAABqY/chsXLYFLUYo/s320/photo.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When the concert began after Gui Boratto's Arquipelago finished playing and that's when we waited for a few minutes, I saw stage crew walking back and forth behind the curtains; and the lights started to dim and then Axis played, that's when I had to stand up for the concert because the people in front of me were tall and my mother and I had to switch seats. I was also talking to other fans about the manchester scene and everything and about Joy Division, my info is still a bit scarce but I knew enough to keep a conversation going. When I saw them behind the curtain/screen, it felt so surreal!! It's like wow, I'm here at this concert...seeing the Pet Shop Boys!!! My seat wasn't as bad as I thought because it could have been farther away! It was just so freaking awesome! They played 23 songs and it was brilliant! I had to keep waking my mother up when her favorite song was playing like "Domino Dancing" She loves changing the words so instead of "Watch them all fall down", she says "Watch their ass fall down" I couldn't stop laughing while I was singing with the crowd. Before that even happened, my mother kept telling me to go into the aisle, and I was hesitant at first, but something in my mind kept thinking, what if this is the only concert I ever go to?! So I walked quickly to the aisle and walked until I was behind the pit of fans and snapped photos like you see above this paragraph! On top of that, I didn't and couldn't afford the VIP tickets and I thought I might as well do this much! I know it probably was wrong of me, but other fans did it so why not me? I couldn't get good shots because the zooming was bad and then Neil kept moving so that was going to be impossible so this is one of my best probably my best shot of the band. Then I filmed some of it and started dancing too! I felt like part of me had an odd connection or something! I guess because when the dancers started dancing to the Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky was playing, I thought immediately was this the Battleship Potemkin soundtrack they did previously or was it from Fantasia the Disney movie that consist of randomization of visual animation while classical pieces replicated by the Philadelphia Orchestra (at that time) were playing. Even if they never heard of this particular movie or anything it felt like they are reading my mind or something. I did also mention on one of my blog posts that their experimental work they've done recently such as the soundtrack for the silent film Battleship Potemkin and The Most Incredible Thing really does remind me of Fantasia, all it was missing was some animation! </div>

<span style="color: #262626; font-family: "Times New Roman";">I
love the fact that they played other songs that weren't too popular that they
have done such as Fugitive, Somewhere, I Get Excited, You Get Excited Too,
Integral, and I'm Not Scared. I don't like two of the songs but the fact they
played those were really cool. I think I remember they didn't want to play all
their popular songs, they also want to play other songs that had little to no
success on the charts. It's like going to a concert of a really renown artist
and all they play are their famous hits without playing their other songs. But
for the most part the concert was absolutely fantastic! I love how "Domino
Dancing" sounded! It had this catchy African American sound and of course
the Latin sound. I also enjoyed the combination of the songs too like "One
More Chance" with "A Face Like That" and "Vocal" and
"It's Alright". I enjoyed the colors in the concert too, me as being
the artist as I am, how could I not enjoy the colors and the costumes?! It had
this vibrant party type feel like a remix of their Pandemonium tour. Only
because they worked with Es Devlin again and thought that was a cool idea to
do! I wished the concert would have lasted longer but after having a drink and
then it was getting late, as soon it was over, we left. I personally wanted to
stay and see the band but I understand it was almost midnight and then they had
to be back in Mexico for the tour. My mother even said she was truly impressed
and the Pet Shop Boys really know how to put on a show. She even now know the
artists' names so I won't have to recapitulate it to her again. She also stated that Neil should do more of the sleeping than Chris because Neil does most of the moving, poor mother, she got a lot to learn about them! I told her about the sleeping part because that's what she loves to do is sleep! I think now my
aunts want to go to the next one when they come back to Los Angeles and I hope
they do! I also forgot to mention I love how Neil does the maestro thing
especially when after "Domino Dancing" was playing the fans couldn't
let it go, I know I wouldn't. The fans was right, the concert really did feel
short! I didn't get any merchandise unfortunately because they were costly and
I couldn't find the area where they were selling them. It's fine though, I
think after winning an autograph of theirs during a pre-order competition,
getting my own shirt online, and (which I need to do eventually) renew my fan
club status soon, I really didn't need to spend money on merchandise, if I did
I would have gotten the tour program because it was really artsy! Oh I'm not sure If I mentioned this but I did wanted to get an autograph for a friend of mine all the way from Malaysia so that was one of the reasons I wanted to do the Meet and Greet. </span></div>

<br />
<br />
Well I am back! I know it's been a long while right?! Oh yes, well I went through a pretty rough time with people on and off line and I literally had a writer's block because the only time I can really blog or critique is when I'm around college time, because it does help me with my writing; henceforth why I gotten a 43 out of 50 on my English essay few weeks ago. When that being said, I also have more posts on the way, and I also would like to reveal my "edit, amateur creations" I did over the summer. I haven't really been drawing much either since of a lot of things going on, so if you looked on my deviantart site, it's drawings I previously done already for competitions, upon requests or just drawing for leisure. I also have expanded my art adorations through all aspects (will explain in further detail soon enough). Which is the reason why I'm conveying about this video. I was messing about with an application called iMovie on my Mac Book Pro, and I recorded Pet Shop Boys' Love Comes Quickly video and I had this crazy idea with the cartoon versions I drew of them being part of the animation idea but since I need to learn about that, I just used the video instead. I got to tell you, it was pretty fun editting the video. I thought it seriously needed a spark for the video, for any sad love song, you always need a sparkle to capture the emotion. That's what I attempted to do anyhow, this video have over 100 views! I'm still shocked because it is my first edit on a video really. Editing isn't as hard but it does require time and a lot of it. This video took a good seven hours to do because I was sick and stuff. It also gotten 4 likes which I'm totally happy about! I don't like doing slideshow videos or try to avoid them because I love movement, unless I'm using the frame by frame to make a movement. Also with that being said, I also have some good news. One is that I will attend the Pet Shop Boys Electric concert in a few weeks, so that's very exciting! I'm taking my mother with me since she loves them. Two is that after that couple more weeks I will be seeing Danny Elfman at the Nokia Theater! My aunt won tickets on K-Earth 101! I'm too ecstatic about that! Basically he's composing the music he did for the Tim Burton movies! Seeing two main artists you highly adore in the same month is almost (dare I say) surreal?! Few months back, I also won a PSB autograph on one of the postcards after pre-ordering Electric. I wasn't going to pre-order but when they said postcards esp. an autographed one, I had to jump on that immediately but still no gurantee but that made me so excited! Even if I don't see them up close, at least I got an autographed that I won. It may not be personalized but it's still something I won! I will post about that as well on how that happened. In all, I really have a lot to discuss and it's been a long while but I am back. I will discuss more about my other edit videos. Like I usually say on the video description, I'm always up for a crtique and comments. IF they are negative a least be smooth about it. Okay I have to go since I am blogging from the Spanish Lab computer, more posts coming up! Hello everyone, I've been really busy lately, although I've been on Facebook and twitter, but I've been doing art projects, so I haven't really have time to blog at the moment but I will I guess soon, I'm not really sure, because I'm so exhausted but I will keep updates on here as well as my other blogs. I do have drafts I need to post on here though so I will do my best to come on here often. I think once I get back into blogging mode, I will do more than I should. Because I really do miss blogging about Pet Shop Boys and Soft Cell/ Marc Almond. </div>

Salutations readers! I'm quarter to a halfway done with drafting posts! So you will see some posts real soon! Things gotten a lot better this week. Like the Linkin Park song "No More Sorrow"! I was on Facebook yesterday, like I'm always online anyway and came across something quite humorous! It's already been posted as a Pet Text on the PSB's official page, but I would like to make a few points out on the video. I thought the video was quite hilarious, only wished there was an extended version of that, it seems the Mexican petheads were having a blast! I like the fact the main guy was dancing and then few seconds later, everyone joined in using either photo head cut aways or album covers as heads and started dancing to the "Harlem Shake"(I think that's the name of the song and dance, I'm not too familiar to newer songs) I love creativity and originality, you don't have to or need to try and dress exactly like the artists, it's all about having fun and enjoying their music. I only wished some people would understand that but not everyone are mature and have to learn the hard way. Anyway since I can't post the video link where you can the video on the blog, I linked it on here so the link underneath this post. But I know you all probably have seen it already! Keep the creativity and original coming!! <br />

<br />
It seems that every time I post it's always an updated post, it seems I've gotten more busier than I thought. I've been currently working on scriptwriting, book illustrating and also of course college. There's two things I want to focus on, one being that the last issue of Classic Pop Magazine, I will also discuss this on my collections blog, this particular issue I truly believe is a nice one because it focus on more brilliant artist and bands and furthermore, I don't think any pop magazine that I know of, have focused on a life of a deceased artist. There's a nice description on Eric Watson, I feel like I understand who this artist was and I always love when anyone show respect for an artist behind the scenes, it really shows how they care. I gotten this about two weeks ago but I've been having writer's block and again been busy with other things. I have more items for my collection but since I've not finished observing them, I can't really discuss them yet. Sorry for the quality of this photo, it's my instragram photo I took from my iPhone. I know that's very unprofessional but I'm okay with it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Also breaking news is that Pet Shop Boys have left Parlophone after 28 years!!! </b>I SERIOUSLY COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!! But I was glad for them, honestly I wished they would do their own label Spaghetti Records, but I guess this is still as good! Now as I see this happening, the single choice for Elysium made sense! And in the following sentences I will explain what I thought about that!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well <b>"Invisible"</b> wasn't the single but it was the leaked song that a lot of people were wondering was it a demo or what. But I think the symbolism for it was that to Pet Shop Boys, they were "invisible" to Parlophone, meaning that whatever they wanted to do, the company didn't care or whatever the reason. That was like a prequel to strike 1 on this "leaving"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>"Winner"</b> I think they felt victorious rather they released the album or not, with the chosen singles or what have you. They I guess knew that they was going to get the upper hand soon enough. The selling out part, I didn't understand, and I still believe it was the company's fault for that but who knows maybe PSB wanted the exposure, but I honestly think that's going against their own ethos if that makes any sense.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>"Leaving"</b> a lovely single, I guess it does have to deal with death and "memory" but I think it also was subliminal on their official leave and break away from Parlophone, they are artist for crying out loud! They have to be liberated and not control, well in today's society, you really can't make a choice can you? And the tempo itself it seems like it was in a positive tone so it might have been a good sign they were really well on their way!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>"Memory of the Future"</b> or should I say "Memory of the Past" since personally it's a good track but not really a single track in my opinion, I think this was another subliminal message that all of what they done in the past with Parlophone will be nothing more than a mere memory and they are starting off fresh, I heard that Kylie Minogue left Parlophone too, so who knows what they have done to wonderful artists!! And have anyone noticed that the Boys didn't really stay too long with the <i>Elysium </i>era? it was so rushed off, it's barely an era! I mean no video for the third single?? I was actually kind of ticked off. A good friend of mine, told me previous they should but unfortunately didn't, but now I can understand the reason now. They had something better planned in mind! And the last couple of videos minus the "Invisible" one I actually like that one, "Leaving" video was so much better than "Winner" I still believe they could have done something better because, it's kind of insulting for someone in the LGBT community, it's not a strong message and honestly I can't really feel like a "winner" when I hear it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't know if this make any sense at all to you guys but that's what I'm getting from all of this! By Pet Shop Boys choice, I think they are liberated from this and are releasing a brand new album also with the tour name called "Electric" I heard the teaser and I heard a clash of Kraftwerk and bit of their older demos and previous Disco compilations in other words, vintage and modern are into this chemical bond and will create a special work of art. I know they are working with Es Devlin that also did their previous concerts Pandemonium and the Fundamental tour and the album is produced by Stuart Price ( which also worked on other artists similar to PSB and and associate acts of them) that also did producing work for them and if I'm not mistaken did the new single mix and/or produced it. Sorry if my facts are rusty, it's been awhile. But now as this came out, I really can't wait for the new tour, hopefully they will release the US tour dates soon, I still want to take my mother to see them. I don't know but some reason this new tour sounds like it's going to symbolize one of their previous tours and add a new zip to it! Can't wait! </div>

Hello everyone, I am truly sorry for my long absence, I've been really busy lately on some art projects for two lovely African American ladies. One is about health in the colon and what not, it haven't been fully discussed but she have connections and will have more details on that soon and also will do art for her book and my name might get to be published and if God willing, to have some more jobs in the works! With that being said, I also am currently back in college. Yay! I've been on a good vacation learning more about myself and my elements and also hanging out with friends and chilling on the internet and actually seeking jobs. Well I am currently working on art pieces for one of my older teacher's novel called The Tower's Alchemist (The Gray Tower Trilogy) and it is really really good! It's so amazing it feels like God does have a sense of humor because last year and a bit of the year before, I was working on art pieces for some peoples' story turned "novel" about vampires we had our fall out; I guess it was somewhat my fault but the way they are is just too creepy and wasn't for me. Plus it's not all that creative, not saying it's not creative because it is a good read but compare to my teacher's novel, her's is fantastic and remarkable! It's really well thought out and well put! It's a clash between wizards and Vampire Nazi warlocks set back into the 1940s. I have been doing research and art pieces which will be posted soon both on my blogs and if I'm not mistaken on her website but I'm not too sure. I didn't want to leave my viewers and possible readers wondering where I have been! This will also assist on the projects I want to do on my own, and on top of it, I'm getting paid to do it. If I was rich (which I'm not) I would have said I can do it for free but when you're at college, when opportunity knocks, I go for it. And furthermore, I will be updating more on my collections since some items came in actually few weeks ago but I gotten lazy and didn't post them. But I will be more active as soon as I almost finish with these projects. I seriously love being an artist, it's fun to use the skills needed to make another person happy and I'm truly content because I thought the horror would never end but things are looking up and I couldn't be more happier! Oh and one more thing, I also believe I convinced my mother to go with me to a PSB concert, I got a shirt for myself and since she does like a lot of the songs I play by them, I think she wants to go, just hope they release the dates soon so I can tell her. Other than that, life is seriously grand! Thank you God!!!<br />
If you want to check out my teacher's book, you can! :D<br />

I’ve listened to David Bowie’s “Where Are We<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Now?” from his
new album <i>The Next Day </i>on the computer today, what a way begin after ten years! A friend of mine
on twitter told me something quite interesting how this song and another song
from the movie <i>The Ice Storm</i> called “I Can’t Read” have a similar if not the
same mellow tone as “Where Are We Now?”
There are some intriguing references and similarities that I also
noticed. One being that the cover art of <i>The Next Day</i> was a subvert of Heroes
which was back in 1977, not only that it looks similar to Pet Shop Boys Elysium
cover art, the square in the middle of the portrait. “I Can’t Read” the video was directed by Tim
Pope and Soft Cell was one of the bands he directed and if I’m not mistaken Marc
Almond liked the new single as well, but was sad he didn’t see it sooner or
something. Two is that “I Can’t Read”
and “Where Are We Now?”, have Bowie’s face in an oval shaped facial expression
like a mask. Another thing is that both videos have to do with surrealism and
expressionism art and a vintage or desolate and abandon them. Which will bring
to my next similarity I’ve noticed Bowie mentioned about “walking the dead” and
how Pet Shop Boys “Leaving” is a theme about a subject about being “dead and fading
away” and I’ve read Clare McCreesh’s blog about the similarities between
Bowie’s new single and Pet Shop Boys’ <i>Elysium </i>about how the two videos had a
black and white footage of Berlin. And it could be a high possibility that
Bowie referenced The Pet Shop Boys, in fact if that’s the case, that would be
really cool and astounding because they did collaborated with them for “Hallo
Spaceboy” and he is one of their inspirations. Not only that but if it was like "Leaving" and the "Where Are We Now?" on the same album, then it would be like a continuation on a journey of some sort. There’s also a photo of David
Bowie on the official Pet Shop Boys site, it reminded me of the Pandemonium
where Neil and Chris with the cubes for heads. I find this quite amazing! I’m
glad David Bowie is back with music, also really cool to start the New Year and his birthday! I think there's a tiny reference of "I'm With Stupid" on "Where Are We Now?" because of the heads being on some dummies body. </div>

One of the Pet Shop Boys fan pages had this on here. It's basically a Christmas Party with a lot of the well known musicians that are popular with the magazines. It's been said on the description that the idea came from Neil Tennant himself, I thought that was a remarkable move on getting musicians do something briefly but hilarious and a fun-tastic piece compiled within twelve minutes. My goodness if it was an actual footage, I would have possibly died of laughter! It's just that funny. Since Christmas is rapidly approaching, I thought I shared this on here, I don't remember if they mentioned on the Smash Hits Christmas audio but it's good nonetheless. Mark Edith did the recording and producer was Taylor Dann. The following musician and bands are featured are: ABBA, ABC, Adam, Bananarama, Bucks Fizz, Captain Sensible, Culture Club, Duran Duran, Fun Boy Three, Haircut One Hundred, Imagination, The Jam, Madness, Mari Wilson, Musical Youth, Piranhas, Police, Steve Strange, Toyah and Ultravox. Some you heard of and some you might haven't but it's still a cute little audio and it was very well thought out. I'm not sure if they do these type of things anymore, I do know about free CDs and stuff with magazines but something like a Christmas special. But anyway, it's a part 2 to this and I will link you on the bottom of this.<br />
<br />

I was truly shocked and impressed there was another Smash Hits audio, because the magazine itself is a fascination and fun filled. But this one was similar to the podcast last year but this time more of the staff members actually spoke in this one as well as Neil did. It was very informative and you can really tell how much they missed the atmosphere of the magazine and being part of it. Even the emotions on the voices about how music nowadays isn't all that cracked up to be, because it's really not about ideas anymore and they are right and with a magazine like Smash Hits, it was hard enough as it was to cope with the changing decade. I honestly wished this was on a podcast. I really like this one as well as the one about Neil Tennant wanting his job back. I think the link is still available to have a listen, it's only about 30 minutes in length but it's worth to have a listen! I haven't listen to the one where Neil reads a chapter of Moby Dick but I've manage to listen to other audios. The link for the Smash Hits radio is below this paragraph. Again it's really short but it's good. Really discussing like the best times and intriguing facts. The Smash Hits story is also on YouTube as well, that's another documentary that's good to understand about the magazine.<br />

Hello dear readers,<br />
<br />
I haven't abandon my blogs, I've just been busy and having a writer's block. In spite of that, I have been reading with one Pet Shop Boys book and almost done with that, looking at videos and working on a few posts but would go through them here and there. I will; however, continue on where I left off even with the Soft Cell/ Marc Almond posts as well. And may I just say that the Philharmonic BBC Concert that the Boys, Johnny Marr, orchestra and choir did an outstanding job, I was really impressed by the song choices and everything, there were some songs I wish it wasn't on there but still it was really excellent. Who ever seen it live, was truly lucky to see all that art. Even though, Neil's voice was trembling a bit, sounds like he was nervous, but he still sounded good! I will possibly have a better review on it later on. All I can is that I truly hope they will release it like they did with <i>Concrete</i>. If you have not listened to it yet(which I'm sure you have), I would recommend it. As fas as the single choices, I'm not really too impressed by that but that's the choice. Out of the video, "Leaving" and "Invisible" are probably the best videos I've seen. "Winner", for me unfortunately, wasn't their best video, in fact, I would consider it to be one of their worst videos. Only because I've seen what they are capable of doing and seeing something like that, wouldn't impress a young artist like myself. The idea was good, but they needed more than what they had on there and they weren't even on the video. Even though, I'm not too fond of the art cover of "Memory of the Future", I do have hope that the music video would be better than I would think it would be. I do like the "Leaving" art covers, but I think this time, I will just get the CDs for "Memory of the Future" and not the vinyls. It's like a weird clash between David Bowie and Andy Warhol on a bad day. The B-sides so far sound very good, and I am enthuse by that which hopefully, the new B-sides will prove remarkable. I am excited about the new pet text with Neil Tennant discussing about Smash Hits again, it's like the other one he did last year, and if possible, it would also be neat if they release a demo compilation, I've heard a good amount of demos of theirs and wonder why they haven't released on yet! Anyway, expect more blog posts heading your way! </div>

themselves created while they were in Milan. It is the derivative of the word
“Paninari” which means sandwich. There were some Italian youth culture that was
described or depict from this segment but really were teens wearing random
clothes like rolled up jeans, white trousers, Timberland shoes, etc. Almost how
Chris was dressed in the video. Chris wore the same iconic Issey Miyake
“Suburbia” sunglasses. I like how it was symbolic within itself because it was
a like a follow up from the “Suburbia” video and Neil with the cowboy hat and
shades. I think that the Boys used Super 8 films only because of the style and
how it looked. Soft Cell used something quite similar for the “Memorabilia”
video.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I actually really liked how they
did their own video; it shows their creative side other than getting another
artist’s interpretation, which isn’t bad either. Some photo shots of Chris and
Neil from the video later because the cover of the <i>Disco</i> which oddly enough,
was inspired by Soft Cell’s <i>Non Stop Ecstatic Dancing</i> because of a remix album.
They also used two of the photos for their VHS and LaserDisc of <i>Television</i>
.They elements of using other people in their videos, Chris dancing, stop
motion with the Miyake shades and a lot of editing, and having some symbolism
with the words like “Passion”, “Love” and “Art”. The 80’s were very opened for
new style and trends and the Boys were taking one step at a time. There’s
another key part in the song while the song plays, you hear Chris’ voice from
an interview where he talks about what he didn’t like and what he like. Which
is cool and rare that he does more talking than Neil, since he doesn’t like the
do a lot of chit chat. If I had to choose between Pop or Art, I’d say art.</span><!--EndFragment--></div>

<br />
After finishing my studies, I worked on a birthday drawing for Mr. Chris Lowe for his 53rd birthday. I actually didn't have an actual idea in mind , so I saw a photo on the official site and thought the hat was extremely cool and abstract! And something click into my head and I also wanted to add the cartoon, animal version of Chris, called Kip I made up. I know it's a bit off because I made the proportions a bit small but I think it's okay enough to post it. Basically a pencil drawing Chris out and since he loves to sleep there's some Z's there. The photo also reminded me of Eric Watson's iconic "Love Comes Quickly" photo of Chris but an updated and futuristic and almost look like a church hat too. But anyway, Happy Birthday Chris Lowe! It's crayons and markers! </div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Recently, I have been listening to Pet Shop Boys latest
album <i>Elysium</i> and I must say I was truly impressed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is the eleventh studio album produced by
the band as well as Andrew Dawson, the producer beyond Kanye West, Jay-Z, etc.
I gotten my copy at the Amoeba store, as I’m finding myself in the store a lot
lately, the price wasn’t so bad either. I actually ordered mine on Amazon but
apparently they didn’t have one at stock, so basically I waited for nothing. So
I called and checked and finally came to the conclusion to just cancel it and
then go to the store.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I guess it was a
reason for me to get it there because I not only gotten the double disc but
also the vinyl, as well as “Suburbia”(Chris on the front cover) and “Opportunities”
(Gray cover).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’ll be frankly honest, when I first saw the cover, I wasn’t all that enthuse about it because it did
look like an image slapped on something or wasn’t thought of properly. But when
I saw it in person, it looked beautiful and after knowing what it was about, it
made much sense. The vinyl looks so beautiful it was a submerged of the regular
edition (the water and sand) and the double disc edition (the sky) together
like a mirroring image. And the choices of the colors amazed me even more: the
blue and orange kind of gave me a <i>Very</i>/Can You Forgive Her?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Type feel and ironically at the closing
ceremonies, they had the cone hats but they were in black but still. But the
album itself is more of a Behaviour-esque sound than any of their albums; the
whole part of reflecting and calmness and about afterlife and death and
depicting a story it a fascinating way. The sleeve covers as well really
intrigued me because I would discuss about primary and secondary colors and now
it’s like it’s a coincidence. The sleeves on the vinyl are orange and a deep
purple which are secondary colors and then on the double disc it had one
primary color which is blue and the other two are secondary colors: brighter
purple and green. The packaging for the deluxe edition is nice just, like the
<i>Format</i> and (so I have read) like the <i>PopArt </i>3 CD set. And it gets even better
about the album, is that it was very unusual that they released the second CD
with all instrumentals, because I adore a lot of their instrumentals it’s like
they seriously read my mind or something or it was a pure coincidence. Even
though <i>Relentless</i> does have instrumentals, but it’s not a full instrumental CD
or album, that’s if you want to make a comparison between the two. But it would
make sense because after listening to the instrumentals, it was really good. It
gives the songs a different tone verses Neil’s voice along with the back up
singers. I personally listen to the instrumental versions a bit more because it
gives a heavenly sound or the idea of being in the afterlife or peacefulness.
My favorites on Elysium is “Leaving”, “Invisible”, “Your Early Stuff”,<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“A Face Like That”, “Ego Music”, “Memory of
the Future” and “Requiem in Denim and Leopardskin.” For the instrumentals the
whole CD is good. It just really takes you there in euphoria. It’s like a
journey of going back and for on life, afterlife, and so forth. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I also gotten the commentary last night, I
didn’t want to come out of pocket because I heard about a promotional code but
it’s okay, since my aunt gave me a gift card, thank God for aunts right?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It was a short but funny commentary about the
songs with the Boys as well as David Walliams. I found out the Water sisters
not only sung with Michael Jackson as backing vocals but also as well for Adele
too or “Ego Music” is like the second part to “How Can You Expect to be Taken
Seriously?”<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
A few comments I would like to point out that sounded like
something familiar to me on a few songs in my honest opinion. “Leaving” on the
beats or sound, it reminded me of Soft Cell’s “Bedsitter” 12-inch mixed with
Dusty Springfield’s “In Private” well her version of the song. “Ego Music”
actually reminded me of their demos where Neil be talking or having a dialogue
conversation almost like “Closer to Heaven” demo or “My Night” demo. Then
there’s a song on the Bratz movie where the antagonist sings a song called
“It’s All About Me” kind of reminded about that, even though it doesn’t have
anything to do with the song itself.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>“Memory of the Future” is almost like a second installment with the word
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Future, </b>because on <i>Yes</i>, their
previous album, well the limited edition it had “This Used to be the Future”
featuring Philip Oakey (Human League). I know the songs are different but the
title alone sounds like some kind of trilogy thing about future, first on what
it used to be, two now Memory of the Future. So it would almost go hand in
hand. I would also point out that I didn’t like “Invisible” at first but it
finally grow on me; however,<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“Winner”
won’t unless I hear it live, used in the proper context or the HappySad remix.
It just doesn’t sound like something they would put out and it is a cheesy song
unless it was used properly like at the Olympics Parade or something like that.
And the other songs I haven’t mentioned, they would have to grow on me but the
instrumentals are good, so it’s best to get the double disc if you can. My
views on this will change but this is how I feel at the moment. Overall It’s a
nice album minus a few songs, it does give me a Disney soundtrack vibe just a
wee bit but still good. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>While also listening
to Elysium, I was listening to Pet Shop Boys Concrete. Another material that
moved me, words cannot describe how this album sounded! It is their 17th
album released on October 23, 2006. It’s a double CD, and mine was from Amoeba
Music; imported. It was the first live concert to be put on audio CD. It was
located at the Mermaid Theatre for Radio 2 with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Monday May 8th, 2006. Musical Director: Trevor Horn. It was an
interesting choice of title Concrete, it was going to be called Concert but
they announce as Concrete, which sounded way better. I guess because concert is
a common word and then by them having more than one concert, it’s best to give
a unique title. I like the context of the word for it, even the booklet had the
sense of gray scale color scheme and pictures of place with concrete or cement
on the foundation. It seems it’s like the title for me is like a “permanent”
type of meaning of revealing material from the past and newer recent music at
the time and also having special guest performances by Robbie Williams, Frances
Barber, and Rufus Wainwright. The choices of the songs were fascinating. I mean
there’s no “Go West” or “Domino Dancing” or even “Opportunities”. But instead
songs like “It’s Alright”, You Only Tell Me You Love When You’re Drunk”,
“Nothing Has Been Proved” or “Dreaming of the Queen”, “Friendly Fire” and
“Indefinite Leave to Remain.” Some were blast from the past and they still
sounded good as well as their newer material. I felt like I gotten a minimal
glimpse of Closer to Heaven musical because of Barber’s version of “Friendly
Fire” or “After All” from Battleship Potemkin score/soundtrack. That was
unusual choice for the concert but I didn’t pay that much mind to it really. I
must say that honestly, that “Friendly Fire”, “Casanova in Hell”, and
“Jealousy” actually sounded way better than the Pet Shop Boy versions of the
track. It just that these individual musicians bring the actual feel to the
song, and frankly, these are on my few least favorite tracks but for now, these
are probably the only versions of these songs I will truly like rather the Pet
Shop Boys’ versions.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“Rent” even though
it was sung by the Pet Shop Boys; but it also did a mini bring back of Liza
Minnelli’s version, which by far is the best version of the song, I believe. I
hate to even admit that “It’s a Sin” and “Numb,” sounded really good on here
too because those are also my least favorites of theirs. Not to mention
“Nothing Has Been Proved” sounded good because I prefer Dusty Springfield’s
version of the song. When they write a song for someone, most of the time I
would prefer the version of the musicians it was for versus their version. Then
ending it with “West End Girls” of course as the encore was done really well. I
can actually just listen to this on my way to school sometimes and it just
gives the reminder that they still have so much to offer even at their age,
it’s incredible! Fans told me about this concert and they weren’t lying, it was
brilliant. It’s good to actually own this, I highly recommend it; those
competition winners were really lucky to be around that much art. I haven’t
been able to see the music scores, and musical but honestly just by listening
to these small glimpses, for me it’s not that much of a rush because this is
really that good! <o:p></o:p></div>

I have finally completed this particular book today. I was
determined to finish this book before the month was up. I read a little bit
here and there. Since I started school, I was a bit busy focusing on homework
to enhance my writing and logic abilities. Speaking of, working on a paper for
class that's due in a couple of days and thought to finally do some blogging to warm me
up.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The cover is from the "Soul Inside" sessions, I really love this photo; very expressional. This biography of Soft Cell is an excellent brief but
detailed book of important facts and opinions of the artists’ views of music and
just being an artist in general by Simon Tebbutt. I was on a insanely, dramatic adventure of the
Soft Cell world seeing the sweet and bashful side of them; while on some parts
the raw and crazy side of them. It includes a lot of exclusive pictures of the
musicians and associates. The brilliance of the choices of words brought out
how bizarre the life of an artist was. Especially actually having direct quotes
from situations that were only mentioned but not thoroughly investigated by
human ears or the eyes of the Internet. But the tongue-in-cheek twist and turns this book have, you in for one insane roller coaster ride. You can honestly tell that Soft Cell
were one of the few real artists that really wanted to be seen as artists and
reveal how hard life can be especially struggling through so much at a young
age. Such occurrences like Dave Ball losing his dad at 17, same
thing happened to me at 19, or having the doubt of being famous or to the point
you explode at someone because they keep making accusations for nothing, or even
keep stating to retire. It’s hard when no one encourages you, especially after
going through so much. I didn’t even know Soft Cell’s third album <i>The Art of
Falling Apart</i>, Marc lost money and friends just to make the album. It seems
that this biography book was released before their last album was out because it wasn’t
mentioned. It only stopped at their third album. It can be difficult when you
want to establish an image for yourself. Knowing why their album art was unique
than mainstream artists because of rebellion of wanting your own style or what
depicts you personally. And this band was very emotional at what they did even
when Marc went from different bands back to back, it was an outlet to do things
that Soft Cell couldn’t produce as a whole. Ironically, the song that I play
constantly or played constantly “Tainted Love” was the bands shadow and
nightmare to the point it was considered “that song” or <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">that</i> song. Tebbutt gave intense biographical features from the rise and falling
apart of Soft Cell by using exclusive pieces from different materials and what
not. The sexual content wasn’t shocking because that was the Soft Cell image at
the time and whatever that was left from the band. This is another piece or
something extremely rare that obviously the musicians have changed and so on, but this is a glimpse of the life of this band. I mean I didn’t even know they
were in Spain and at the time “Bedsitter” was more popular than “Tainted Love” or
Phil Oakey of Human League stated this “Marc Almond has got a twenty times
better voice than mine.” Or when Marc was talking about how musicians slag his
voice but this quote really was deep,” I have been told by classically trained
singers that I have an exceptional range.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>And I’m getting better all the time. I listen to all the singers who slag
me off and I can tell by the way they are singing that they are doing it all
wrong. They’re singing from their throats and wallets, not their hearts and
souls at all.” Both quotes are on page 122. That’s truly a deep quote and
that’s how an artists should be, thinking about the heart and soul and not
money and being pretentious. I am truly fortunate to have this as a gift. I
can’t seriously thank you enough Elaine! I have six books to go, I’ll get a
move on another book but this time it’s the unauthorized biography of the Pet
Shop Boys and it will be a post about that one too, so stay tuned! I know this
biography book is rare and harder to find but if you come across this book, if
you love different, unique, raw, organic, sexual related stuff and hard working
and real true artists, then this book is definitely for keeps! I truly
apologize for the repetition but this book really moved me.</div>

While having some Pet Shop Boys related drafts underway, I thought I discuss about this video. This was one of the videos I saw when I became a Soft Cell fan. Quite interesting because this is Tim Pope and friends that made a video of his song called "I Want to Be a Tree". The song is quite funny and you get a whiff of different artists from well known bands that he directed videos from. The artists includes Style Council, Freur, Robert Smith, Lauren Tolhurst, Siouxsie Sioux, Budgie, Soft Cell, Paul Young, and Mark Hollis. The video is hilarious and silly, you get to see the artists' shy, crazy side in the video, like Soft Cell threw pies at Pope. I'm glad it's still on here because it captures such rare moments like this because artists often change, believe me, I know. This is a video of interest and the director too. He did a lot of videos with artists you are more likely familiar with.<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: yellow; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">Rare rough copy of the original video for director Tim Pope's song I Want To Be A Tree, shown on The Whistle Test in 1984. According to Pope: "my bloody office at cowboy films lost the original of the tree video", and this is all that survives. Kudos to anyone who can name each member of the all-star cast. << T<b>his is what YouTube or the person that uploaded the video said about it, well more like the information about it. </b></span><br />

A good friend of mine Clare told about something interesting today, pretty funny at the same time. She knows I love the era of Neil Tennant working in Smash Hits and there's an interview that Neil did of Marc Almond of Soft Cell back in the day well from a shocker he also did a singles review on Soft Cell's "What" single. I do agree "What" is a song that isn't as bizarre as Soft Cell's other material, and then I know he forgot the title on a podcast calling it "Why" which is pretty hilarious because did a singles review on the song. A day after my birthday on the same year the interview he did of Marc Almond too? What could be better? Seeing a review like that one and seeing a review like the negative review on the Go-Go's single is just quite fascinating about how a person's opinion can change on different artists/bands and then the Duran Duran "Save a Prayer" review was shocking since he didn't or doesn't like Simon Le Bon supposedly. I took a photo from my phone because you can't save photos on flickr. Here's the link <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/51106326@N00/7375816836/in/set-72157630136168228" target="_blank">Click Here!</a> to see the original! Thanks again Clare, I just love finding the similarities on artists!<br />

Another year for an anniversary drawing, I had a birthday so I was busy yesterday. But today I worked on this drawing to wish a happy 31st anniversary to the Pet Shop Boys. I would like to also discuss about how I became a fan of their work since I don't have an actual day when I became a fan. But it was around this time I bought the <i>Pandemonium </i>CD/DVD at <b>Barnes and Nobles</b>, was with a friend who is stuff into the new music today, but I'm completely the opposite but I do have a few exceptions of course. I was 18 at the time because my birthday is strange but it's right next to the day Pet Shop Boys met back in 1981, I find it so cool! I enjoyed the CD/DVD, and I had music of theirs I downloaded a lot before then but fully gotten into them. Met some cool fans and some weird fans, some actually thinking they are number one fans. I guess we all feel that way but it's the way they present themselves and the sad thing is that they are older than me and act childish, but it's fine. It's inevitable to meet fans like that, even my Marc Almond fan friends encountered the same thing. It gets annoying because it takes the joy of enjoying the band, but I came to realize, why in the world let some ignorant fans ruin your joy? I was actually on edge of doing so, but I love the band because they have the artistic sense, and don't dare to be different they do what they like and experiment and that's what artists are suppose to do. They are like a proper version of Soft Cell, because they aren't too extreme and it fits them perfectly. Even though some of the choices they done through the years weren't too good but somehow go pass it and still do smashingly! And the astonishing part is that they never really took a long, long break at all, and they are still continuing strong, I can honestly see why Marc was jealous of them back in the day, even though Soft Cell was one of their influences in their material. The fact they did numerous collaborations and doing experimental works beyond their years, it's quite amazing. I think after all of this, it made adore their work even more, sometimes I wish I was in the UK to be fortunate to even see what and how they work like some tour or something. Listening to commentaries and watching concerts and music videos, it's like wow, like my mother said "Only two people?" You'd think it's like 4 or 5 people but it's only two along several musicians and people that are also known or were getting there. All I can truly say is that I'm proud of being an African American fan of their work, and hope to continue to see more brilliant material! I also done art work of them because of requests by fans or just drawing on my own and was glad that I can still draw after a long hiatus! Happy 31st anniversary Pet Shop Boys! </div>

Pet Shop Boys' Life in Pop is a basically a visualized biography/autobiography/documentary about the life and continuing legacy of the Pet Shop Boys. It's about two hours of jaw dropping, fascinating information about the boys, plus other artist's and colleagues'/associations' views on the Boys themselves which include Brandon Flowers, Robbie Williams, Peter Robinson, Tim Rice-Oxley, West End Girls, Jake Shears, Bruce Weber, David, Trevor Horn, Tony Wadsworth, Richard Blade, David Walliams, Matt Lucas, Pete Gleadall, Dr. Wayne Studer, Derek Jarman (pre - filmed), Liza Minnelli (1989), and Frances Barber. It also consist of clips from their concerts, music videos, multiple media footage used chronologically, not to mention if also have on location shots which I personally like, especially reminiscing about. The one of Blackpool definitely reminded me of some footage Soft Cell did on something called BBC Young Guns: Go For It. Something like that and it was about Soft Cell, so the location looked familiar because Dave Ball of Soft Cell is from Blackpool as well. It was originally broadcasted on Channel 4 in May 2006 but have an extended version that is on the DVD. It was directed by George Scott, this can be appealed to any audience because it's artsy, in depth information and it's very intriguing, for example, I didn't know Neil dyed his hair red to dress like David Bowie, I knew about the blonde hair thing thanks to Annually but the red thing had me baffled, or even Chris worked as a waiter or something. It's like they can honestly relate to just about anyone that's seriously struggling. Even have well known performers and people, to take out time to speak on their behalf on the musicians is quite dynamic. It also include bonus material like music videos: "Miracles", "I'm With Stupid", "Minimal", and "Numb".<br />
Their first ever televised appearance on <b>Hits des Clubs</b>. Namur, Belgium performing "West End Girls" and finally two BRIT Award sequences "What Have I Done to Deserve This? 1988 with Dusty Springfield and "Go West" 1994 with Welsh miners' choirs conducted by Richard Niles. This is a perfectly formatted DVD that would be considered highly suggested, if to do some research or wanting to learn what are the Boys really about, well one of them materials anyway. It's definitely worth it.<br />
I even showed my mother the closing ceremonies footage few days ago and she was shocked that it was only two people in the band, she thought it like five people in the band because they are so powerful, she was blown away herself. I haven't showed her any concerts yet but she's definitely into the music so this band is a-okay in my book, even my mother's and that's her era really. I thought I throw that in there if I haven't already. </div>

Yesterday, multiple bands/artists like Pet Shop Boys, Madness, Beady Eye, Jessie J, Fatboy Slim, Spice Girls Annie Lennox,The Who, George Michael, many others along with tributes of John Lennon, David Bowie. Freddie Mercury; having choirs, marching bands and many other forms of art of the London culture. But one of the ones I really adore were the Pet Shop Boys, even though it was brief, I was finally glad to see them on something that was broadcasted on NBC, was absolutely grateful, because you barely hear anything of them on television unless it's a music channel. Sadly that's how America is with a lot of UK bands if they aren't in the legendary realm yet. You practically have to do a handful amount of research just to know where they are.<br />

Apparently they are on rickshaws, I can actually hear "Chariots of Fire" going in my head when I see them on these for some odd reason. I guess because of the next photo to the right it look like an abstract version of fire or something. Actually what they were wearing and the colors, well to me obviously brought up something quite familiar from their previous material. Well they wore cone hats in the music video "Can You Forgive Her?"and ironically the dominant color would be orange because their album <i>Very (</i>lego casing) was primarily orange. Also the blue lighting in the background and the orange rickshaws/abstract head wear, that's another clue to me that it reminded me of the "Can You Forgive Her?" video because those two colors were very dominant in the video. If you also look closely on the photo even the background had triangles so it's like a three forms of triangular/pointy forms and shapes: the abstract heads, the cone hats and the triangles in the back! How artsy can you get?? Gareth Pugh are behind the outfits, the black jacket Neil wears looks quite similar to the one he wore in the Brit Awards(same one with Brandon Flowers and Lady Gaga) but the one Chris wears looks practically new and different. I am getting a sense of a black crow in their outfits. It would make sense because of Chris' outfit looks feathery and the cone hats for some reason, almost look like a beak or something. (I found out on a photo that someone used Chariot of Fire, on an article, I guess I rest my case when I thought about that then!!) Anyway, the closing ceremonies blew me away! So much talent and legends performing and newer generations keeping the balance. And thank God for DVRs I would have honestly missed it, if I didn't have one! I personally wished there were some more artists that would be in it, but I know because of time and all, it's understandable. I just remember in the "Can You Forgive Her?" video did have two species of bird: an ostrich and ducks. So in a way I can see where the bird reference came from a wee bit. I love how the people were doing the dance for "West End Girls"very unified! That song seriously will never get old. I forgot to mention this the suits the guys are wearing look like something from Tim Burton's Beetlejuice, because the main character Beetlejuice wears a suit with black and white stripes.</div>

This compilation was released last year on November 1st. There’s two versions: One being the standard or regular version with the songs in chronological order including the new song “Together”, which If I’m not mistaken was the idea from EMI and the other one is the deluxe or special edition, which also includes a DVD with 27 BBC performances from mostly Top of the Pops 1 and 2, with a few exceptional appearances from<i> Old Grey Whistle Test, Wogan</i> and <i>Brit Awards</i> and finally includes as well the Glastonbury 2010 performance which pretty much like their Pandemonium tour minus “The Way It Used to Be” being in the track listings. The color scheme on this version is different from the regular, I guess to avoid confusion. The standard version of it has a color scheme of cool colors: green, to blue.<span> </span>While the deluxe edition have warmer colors with one cool color: pink, orange, orange yellow and purple. I gotten this from a fan as a gift, I guess from buying the Life in Pop on DVD for the person. It’s a really choice idea because if you’re a newbie fan and want to test out their material at first hand, this is one of them because you get the idea what the Pet Shop Boys are all about, as well as <i>Life in Pop DVD</i> and <i>PopArt</i> the DVD(their videos) and if you have more of a fascination then getting their compilations like <i>PopArt</i> CD, their B-side sets:<i> Alternative </i>and <i>Format,</i> bookwise <i>Introspective</i>, <i>Catalogue, Annually, Special, Literally</i> and <i>Pet Shop Boys vs. America</i> are something else to get into. If not then there's their concerts: <i>Highlights/MCMLXXXIX (VHS)</i> which is only 30 minutes of it(more can be found on YouTube, Performance, Somewhere, <i>Montage/Nightlife Tour, Cubism/Fundamental Tour</i>,<i> Discovery(VHS) </i>more can be found on YouTube, and <i>Pandemonium tour </i>which includes a CD version, but it has lesser songs than the DVD. I’m not saying to get all at once because fans work on their own paste but whatever that is in your interest definitely test these out if you haven’t already. The deluxe edition also includes a little booklet of silhouettes of the musicians with a color schemes I mentioned earlier on each of them and it has the credits for both the CD and DVD. I would definitely consider this for an artist's choice. </div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
August 2, 2006 was when I became an official Soft Cell fan.
Ironically it’s also my grandmother’s birthday she would have been 82 if she
were alive. At the time I was 13 going on 14 becoming a fan of Soft Cell. I was
unsure of what music choice I was into at the time. I was obsessed with P!nk at
one point, then listened to multiple artists from the 80’s and even classical
music; I still listen to these types of music by the way. But when I heard
“Tainted Love” for the first time, that I can think of, it was during between
June and July, I had the Music Choice channel on cable and “Tainted Love” going
off and I immediately wrote down the song and artists’ name before the song
went off. I was asking my mother, aunts and my grandparents have you heard of
the song. So far only my aunts and my mother heard of it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>My mother showed me this really, really old
tape (I’ll add a photo of it) she liked the song when it came out and she
recorded it off the radio. You can tell it was old but it didn’t sound that bad
and somehow she managed to capture the full version of the song. Before I was
exposed with technology full on, I almost wore her tape. So I finally decided
to make CDs with “Tainted Love” and then the power of downloading and all, had
so many versions. Then my cousin, Dario bought me my first Soft Cell CD, which
was their compilation The Very Best of Soft Cell.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>At the time, I only thought “Tainted Love”
was their only hit or song really, I was so obsessed with it, like literately.
I mean every time the song played, they wondered where I was. Then I remembered
I printed out so many photos of Soft Cell to the point, I compiled a collage
jive book, my aunt called it, with photos, interviews, just about everything.
When I actually did more researches on them, I realized they had more songs to
be expected. Now I’ll be quite honest, I was actually afraid of what to listen
to because of the track titles. I honestly had no idea what I was about to get
myself into. I mean I never heard such track titles like “Sex Dwarf”,
“Bedsitter” or even “Entertain Me”. Then I checked out what “erotic” meant and
was nervous because at the time, I was intimidated with sexual stuff, but after
a while. I wanted to explore Soft Cell, regardless of what the case may be. I
heard bits from their first and second albums. Then when Tower Records was
still around, I begged my mother to buy me Soft Cell’s first album, she was mad
but she bought it anyway. I really like the album actually wore it out, it was
so full of scratches and then later on buying more of their albums, all went
terrible until I downloaded their tracks and then when those were deleted on my
grandmother’s computer. I finally managed to get them recently thanks to Amoeba
Music. Actually because of Soft Cell, it opened doors for me when It came to
music. I started reading articles that I printed out and seeing bands like Pet
Shop Boys, Bronski Beat, Human League, etc, I soon later became interested into
the bands and there are more I need to explore like Kraftwerk, and so on. I
didn’t even know at the time Neil Tennant was part of the Pet Shop Boys since
there was an article where he claimed “If it wasn’t for Soft Cell, there
wouldn’t be no Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell realized we could form a group.” It was
amazing how bigger artists and bands had so much to say about this band and
especially being America too. I was quite astounded.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>My adoration went even further with them in
middle school where people at school told me I liked a gay band, I should
listen to rap, or they don’t know you exist and all that stuff. I couldn’t stop
listening to Soft Cell, their lyrics really spoke out to me. So I had folders
where I spelled out the name and the band mate’s names throughout my items.
Then even used some of the photos I had into clear slots, where I would flash
out Soft Cell pictures and stuff. What was so funny, at the time I still
remembered walking around with the Soft Cell scrapbook with me to school at the
time. Even someone gotten me into trouble because I had an almost nude photo of
Marc Almond that I gave to someone, they wanted to keep it after class. I
actually thought the person was a fan, but it turned out she was only doing it
for a mere friendship. She told me she had photos of Marc Almond that were “rare”
which were common photos I already seen. Told me innumerous lies about Soft
Cell were with mainstream artists and all that. Soft Cell only around briefly
in the 2000s and there was no way they would be around any mainstream artist,
not that I know of. Even this dude was gay and still mocked me for liking them.
It was crazy at my middle school year. I remember this one girl told me that
Rihanna actually sampled the track for her song “S.O.S.” song and guess what,
it was a big hit, not really a shocker because the song is still popular to
this day. I don’t care if it was a big hit, I love the song regardless of what
people have to say. Even yesterday my neighbor across from the apartment, had a
movie playing and I heard “Tainted Love” which was bizarre because my fan
anniversary was very soon and then by finding <i>Bedsit Tapes,</i> I was so excited.
But going back to fans, I did meet a hand full of fans.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One that so into them, he was younger than
me, but later stopped liking them because of the gay thing, which, I’m thinking
you just now realized that? I knew Marc Almond was gay, I used to think Dave
Ball was his partner but after reading, I immediately gotten that out of my
system. What angered me was that the fan have so much rare items of them it was
crazy. He never gotten back to me about it, but it’s fine the technology is so
advance it’s possible to retrieve. I met this other nut from South America; I don’t
know what his issue was honestly. He was a fan of Soft Cell and the Pet Shop
Boys, he seems popular with YouTube, I think that’s also how I took an interest
on them too. All I can was that he called me a stupid black girl in Spanish
then few months later talking to the previous fan I mentioned and claiming he
wasn’t a racist. As if I would believe that. He sketched and all, his art was
alright, but he needed improvement. All this was on MySpace and messenger by
the way. Then I found out karma had him when he made that animal cruelty video
using a Marc Almond song and Marc hated that. Hell he probably hated me too
because I mentioned Soft Cell or something, but I am an American fan, I didn’t
know anything at the time. Actually I came across a few of Marc’s associates,
then to find out he doesn’t want to do with them anymore, for some odd reason.
But not all fans were assholes or changed because of ridiculous reasons. I met
others who didn’t want to do anything with me, jut because they were stuck up
fans and all that. I did; however, met some awesome fan friends: Yvonne Moore,
Elaine Darvas, and Jacqueline. I would say more but I found out they were
nutcases looking for attention like the Pet Shop Boys fans I met on Facebook. I
honestly don’t understand the whole superior thing, but they will learn one
day. Anyway, so far I stayed in touch with those Marc Almond fans, our
friendship never really faded out. I met a few more that were nice or decent
but I kept my distances only because I don't want any ruckus with anybody. It was quite a war, even then no matter what superior
fans want to think, if it came from the horses’ mouth, then there’s nothing
more to say. I still love Soft Cell, even Marc Almond’s solo work and
collaborations. I don’t know what made me really drawn to the music, but I
really adore their way of thinking and they were unique and weren’t afraid to
be artists. I must say I’m a proud fan of them and it will take a lot to get me
off of them. Then by getting awesome gifts lately, it really had it in my mind;
that it was fate that I would be into this band. I’m not sure on what date I
became a pethead but I will post about it around my birthday. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Don’t worry I have no hatred on fans, I’m only
pointed out what happened during the years. I would like to continue meeting
awesome fans. Overall I didn't have that much trouble with the fans rather than the Pet Shop Boys fans. <o:p></o:p></div>

When I saw the latest pet text on the Pet Shop Boys official site, I had to see where this came from. It's actually pretty funny because that's a form of Pop Art/comic book art with one of their songs. It's really cool that Mark Farrow sent them that. I couldn't believe it was from a tumblr site; I actually went to it and come to fine out it had several forms of art, even had couple of my favorite artists including Salvador Dali and Vincent Van Gogh. It's astounding at you what you can find from another form of art. This art piece, if it had the red polka dots, yellow and tear drop from the woman, it would have really looked like something Roy Lichtenstein based art or something he would have done. It's from this tumblr site: <a href="http://thisisnthappiness.com/" target="_blank">Thisisnthappiness</a>. This is worth looking at, if this type of art fascinates you. I also notice white, almost look like some glue was added or something because it have a shell color and white looks brighter obviously.Way to go guys posting such fantastic findings! </div>
